When you look around the state, you’d be hard pressed not to find examples of Colorado Lottery proceeds at work. The money raised by the Lottery helps improve the quality of life in Colorado, from recreation centers to trails, campgrounds to parks, playgrounds to open spaces. In fact, more than 162 sports fields have been built thanks to Lottery proceeds, and more than 700 miles of trails have been built or maintained. Those are just a couple of examples of Lottery dollars at work. Here's more information about our partners and how Lottery proceeds are distributed.

Great Outdoors Colorado
Large landscapes and river corridors are a rich part of Colorado’s Western heritage. We have helped create places with scenic views and room for wildlife to roam. Through Great Outdoors Colorado grants, funded by Lottery sales, many of the landscapes that define Colorado are being preserved, ensuring our children will inherit many of the most beautiful places in Colorado just as we know them today. More than 718,171 acres have been protected so far.

Conseravation Trust Fund
Local parks and recreation providers – towns, cities, counties and special districts – receive money from the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) in proportion to their population. CTF receives approximately 40 percent of proceeds, and is administered by the Department of Local Affairs. This money is used for open space and land acquisition for parks, equipment purchases, facility development, landscaping, park maintenance and renovation or restorations of facilities all across the state.

Colorado State Parks
In 2006-07, more than 11 million visitors enjoyed Colorado’s 42 State Parks. You are never further than 87 miles from a State Park, anywhere in Colorado. Lottery proceeds are used for trail construction and maintenance, land acquisition, equipment and facility purchases and maintenance of state parks facility. In fact, Lottery proceeds were used to purchase land and build Cheyenne Mountain State Park, the newest State Park in Colorado. In addition, Lottery dollars have helped build 10 new State Parks campgrounds. These parks help residents enjoy the best our state has to offer, along with making Colorado a memorable destination for tourists.

Division of Wildlife
One of the only things more amazing than the scenic wonders of our state is the wildlife that inhabits it. Colorado Lottery proceeds have helped the Division of Wildlife establish more than 200 wildlife-viewing areas for people to connect with nature without disturbing it, and have helped 43 different species survive and thrive in our state. The Division of Wildlife recieves Lottery proceeds from GOCO grants.
